Calorie Counter Diary - Using One to (Actually) Lose Weight
When it comes to losing weight, it is not about starving or depriving yourself, it is about getting to know you. An easy and effective way to do that is by using a calorie counter diary every day. I used one to lose twenty pounds and I was amazed at how much I learned and how simple and effective the process was.
Using a calorie diary is like using a checkbook. Money in, money out. Calories in, calories out. Really, it is that simple! As an adult, you are aware you have a certain amount of time to spend each day. You are limited. That's life. You also have a certain amount of money to spend each day. You can overspend, but there will be consequences!
A calorie diary showed me that nutrition and calories work the same way. Our bodies need a certain amount of calories each day - it's different for each of us - and those calories need to work for us nutritionally, too.
If that sounds complex, it's not if you are using the right tools. For starters, imagine all you do with technology each day. What would you have to give up or stop doing if you didn't have your computer, cell phone, or pda? Well, trying to lose weight without using a calorie counter of some sort can actually make things harder than they have to be. After all, you're going to have to eat for the rest of your life, right? Doesn't it make sense to gain a certain level of proficiency about what your body needs to function at its best?
There's a learning curve with everything new we start and this is no different. It took me about two weeks to get in the swing of using this system. At first I grumbled, but then I realized that two weeks was a tiny investment for my future life and health. Imagine if we could get our college degrees in two weeks time! The truth is, our bodies and our health will have a greater impact on our futures than our careers, as important as they may be.
Don't believe me? Try being sick for one day. What's the first thing that goes? Work. But if you lose your job you can still get around and look for other opportunities. Our health is vital!
Do yourself a favor and start finding out what you eat, when and why. Use a calorie counter diary to learn more about what makes you tick. You'll never regret investing in yourself in this easy way.
