First things first. Keep in mind that no diet is successful without implementing the basic core principles of a healthy lifestyle. You must include them all. I'm stressing this because there are so many fad diets out here nowadays that avoid some of these basic principles, and for that, you should AVOID FAD DIETS! The basic principles are COMPLETE proper nutrition (complex carbs, fiber, protein, health fats, and foods rich in vitamins and minerals), get plenty of sleep every night (7-8 hours), drink plenty of water daily (1/2-1 gallon), cardio exercise AND weight training exercise.

As far is eating is concerned, as I said earlier, how you eat is just as important as what you eat. This is because if you focus on eating properly through out the day, you will boost your metabolism. If you boost your metabolism you will lose weight fast, but even more importantly, keep it off!

How should I eat?

Eat frequently through out the day. Start with breakfast (never skip breakfast), and eat a small healthy meal every 2-3 hours after that. This will keep your fat burning furnace (your metabolism) running on all cylinders and thus naturally burn off fat faster.

When you eat frequently through out the day, your body will burn off more calories and you will lose weight fast and keep it off. However, when you do the opposite and not eat regular meals or you skip meals, this will slow down your metabolism. Curb Your Carb Intake

In order to lose weight it's best to curb your carb intake. The simple carbohydrates are often times referred to as the bad carbs. The main difference between good and bad carbs is how the body processes them. With simple carbohydrates, they don't have the fiber needed and your body metabolizes them quickly.

Some of the simple carbs are maple syrup, corn syrup, granulated sugar, fruit juices, honey, molasses, soda, pasta and white bread. Complex carbohydrates are fruits, vegetables, whole grain bread and cereal, legumes, brown rice, bulgur, whole wheat pasta and dried fruit.

You need to curb your carb intake because when you eat too many bad carbs you will most likely gain weight since the fast blood sugar rise will trigger the release of the hormone known as insulin. Insulin's purpose is to lower blood sugars and transport fat around your body. If you have too much insulin your body will have to produce more insulin to try to get to a normal blood sugar level.
