Here is a list of what motivates overweight teenagers to look for effective weight loss solutions.

Weight loss for teens is mostly about how to be able to look like their favorite celebrity. Of course a lot of teenagers would not admit it. Actually, when asked about a direct question about losing weight, you won't be able to come up with a useful answer to determine their motivation. But if you try to dig deeper, like check the topics of their conversations with friends and the covers of their school notebooks, you would then come up with an idea of who might be their celebrity idols. Of course, this is not a good motivating factor for losing weight.

Another, weight loss for teens is about avoiding peer pressure. Social status, anyone? Though this may sound ridiculous for some, this still has something to do with a "celebrity" in the minds of teens. But this time, they are looking at the deemed famous people within their own community, like who might be linked to their school crush or the activities of the more popular group.

There are also teenagers who disregard a healthy lifestyle just because they are young. It is a fact that in most cases, teens are stronger against different diseases than adults are. Maybe this is not because teens believe that they are invincible due to their age, but more about being able to explore more and not worry much because it is still too early for them to think about health threats.

For other teens, they look at weight loss solutions as just a form of control exercised toward them but not fully understand the benefits. Well, if you don't see what is in it for you in any activity, you would probably not mind to be doing that at all. At their age, teens don't like the feeling that they are completely without control of what they do.

Many teens, too, may not be fully aware of the importance of keeping a healthy weight. This is a period of their life that they are mostly involved with so many activities which force them into a situation where in the normal body process of burning fats cannot take place. We are talking about teenagers eating while studying or playing their favorite computer games.

So, what may be the best motivation for teenagers to maintain a healthy lifestyle? The secret word is "discipline". And what we want to achieve here is "self-discipline". We want to explain to teens and have them understand the benefits of healthy living in general and different habits to stay fit. In the end of it all, teens must also be "assured", somehow, that the choice remains for them to make. If given this certain kind of assurance - that weight loss is for their benefit, they are not compared to others, they are not being put under any pressure, and that they are in control - teenagers are most likely to be involved in keeping a healthy weight.
